Searching For Mobile-friendly Content

It does not take rocket scientist to notice that Google, Microsoft, and Yahoo are gearing up to provide services to your mobile.  When you try out Google Maps on your phone, you may question why you ever spent all that extra money for the expensive GPS in your car.  When you try out MSN mobile search or Google mobile search, you may wonder why you haven't used those services before on your phone.

"The leading edge battleground between us and Google in local search really will come on the phone," predicts Microsoft Chief Executive Steve Ballmer.  Some big challenges do lie ahead for these companies such as: finding mobile-friendly content, indexing search results appropriately for the mobile phone, and monetizing the the service.

We believe that dotMobi addresses the first two challenges of finding mobile friendly content and indexing search results.  The third challenge is up to the industry to resolve.
