Mobile-only Households?
The fact that 9% of the households in the US just rely on their mobiles and are ditching their land-lines is not surprising. I am curious to see what the equivalent figure is in US and Asia. My guess is that its probably higher. Given that the landline service is often tied to high-speed access (think DSL), the real question is how does this trend affect services like DSL.
As a society we are more and more reliant on our mobile phones as not only an always on (or always available) communication device but also increasingly as a computing device (think all the calendaring, photos, Internet, email capabilities) being built in. I am curious to see what the handset manufacturers will come up with in the next 5 years to suppliant not only the Plain Old Telephone in our homes, but also maybe the traditional PC?

Many people don't consider VOIP a landline.
the numbers skew because of Vonage and Skype, not because of cell phones..
